October 1, 2021  Workshop on Loss and Grieving: “If we lost Uncle Jimmy, let’s go find him!” *CEUs

9 am -4 pm

A very special - and timely – day with Deborah Rivlin, M.A, Bereavement Educator, who has been working in the field of bereavement for over forty years. Deborah worked at The Good Grief Program of Boston Medical Center and The Children's Room in Arlington MA.  Presently she is facilitating Bereavement Support groups for those who had a family member die from Covid 19.

Deborah created and developed the Parenting While Grieving Series for adults:  parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles or caregivers, who are parenting a child who had a parent die.  She also developed The CIRCLE, a support group model for bereaved families.  One of her CIRCLE programs supported families who had a loved one die on 9/11/2001.

Ms Rivlin will share hands-on information about how young children understand and cope with loss. She’ll offer strategies, language, and insight into identifying opportunities to help children understand illness, death, divorce and other stressful times. She’ll also discuss when their grief is our grief: how we support those who are grieving when we are grieving too - community loss and grieving - so significant for all of us in our work now.

*NYSED CEUs are provided by the UB School of Social Work Office of Continuing Education. 6 live online contact hours are approved for LMSW/LCSW, LMHC, LMFT, LCAT, and PSY. Full attendance is required; no partial credit will be awarded for partial attendance.
